The Feed In Tariff Subsidies For Solar Panels Adjusted
When the date for the review of the Feed In Tariff (FIT) scheme was announced, the UK's solar industry and communities held their collective breath. Reports that the program was doomed, or that the rates would be slashed abounded in the media. Alas, although there have been changes, the program remains in tack but changes have been made for larger installations of solar panels.
The current cost per kilowatt across the UK averages about 10 or 11 p/KWh. The tariff amount on new homes with a system that is 4KW or less was 36.1p/KWh for people who participated in FIT the first year (FIT01). For the second year (FIT012), the price rose to 37.8p/KWh. Joining the scheme in the second year (FIT02) will pay 37.8p/KWh.
For a system on an existing home, the amounts are 41.3p/KWh (FIT01). For the FIT012 and FIT02 the price increases to 43.3p/KWh. This too is for units that are 4KW or less.
PV arrays that have a capacity of over 4KW through 10KW are the same subsidy amounts as a new build home for FIT01. With the next level for 10KW up to 100KW the subsidy is 31.4p/KWh for FIT01. It increases to 32.9p/KWh for FIT012 AND FIT02.
Units capable of greater than 100KW will still receive a decent 29.3p/KWh FIT01 and 32.9p/KWh in FIT012 and FIT02. Lastly, systems that are not hooked up to provide electricity to an occupied building no matter what kilowatt size will see 29.3p/KWh FIT01 and 30.7p/KWh for FIT012 and FIT02.
All programs still exist for twenty-five years and are set to increase or decrease according to inflation. The subsidies are adjusted annually based on the Retail Price Index over the past 12 months ending on 31 December. The adjusted amounts will be affective the following 1 April of the new year.
These generous payments allow many people and entities to realize green energy. The PV solar panels will continue to get more efficient and less costly. For a more detailed account of the FIT search the scheme on the internet.
